What Is Ripstop Fabric?
Ripstop fabric is our premium fabric, with enhanced wind-resistance over our standard PA or PU polyesters. With all the same benefits of our already superior quality standard polyester fabrics.
Ripstop fabric is a woven material that uses a special reinforcing technique to make it resistant to tearing and ripping. During weaving, thicker reinforcement threads are interwoven at regular intervals in a crosshatch pattern. The advantages of ripstop are the favourable strength-to-weight ratio and that small tears can not easily spread.
We've all made the mistake of leaving canopies out in windier conditions than we should, but with the Ripstop grid-line weave, any rip that begins will stop at the next weave, adding an extra layer of durability to your canopy.
Please note: Our Canopy Care Instructions must still be observed even when using Ripstop canopies. Despite being stronger and more rip resistant, Ripstop items will not withstand stormy or prolonged periods of adverse weather and should also be taken down during the Winter.
